Bio

Arroyo Rogers is a country band steeped in the classic C&W sound of the sixties and seventies. Founded by Kip Powell and Lisa Mednick Powell, the band continues to perform classic covers and original Americana in and around Joshua Tree, California.

Both Lisa and Kip were veteran sidemen in the Austin, Texas scene during the 90's. Past support of artists such as Alejandro Escovedo, Ray Wylie Hubbard, James McMurtry, and Radney Foster are evidence of their seasoned musicality.

After spending a few years in New York state, Kip and Lisa headed west to New Mexico. A C&W party band emerged from an adobe bunker in Española called Forty Miles of Bad Road. Honkytonk drinking and cheating songs soon inspired original songs like "Albuquerque" and "I Love Two Men."

Arroyo Rogers is an offshoot of that band, keeping the fun, tongue in cheek style for which they have become known. They are now living in the high desert community of Joshua Tree, CA. Finding kinship with the artists and musicians in the area, Lisa reconnected with renowned songwriter, Victoria Williams. Lisa released a new solo album, Blue Book, in 2018 featuring Kip, Victoria, Greg Leisz, and Danny Frankel to critical acclaim. (http://www.lisamednickpowell.com)

Arroyo Rogers is scheduled to release its debut EP in the spring of 2019. Recorded at  Blue Velvet Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana with the help of guitarist/engineer Tom Stern, the six songs range from the humorous " Albuquerque" to the straight up honky tonk of " Three Sheets to the Wind." Listen to the new tracks, or, better yet, take a spin in the sawdust wherever Arroyo Rogers is playing.
